The Ridge Course is the standout - long, demanding, and beautifully maintained. Golfweek has ranked Neshanic Valley among the Top 50 Municipal Courses in the country. Weekend rates regularly come in under $60 and weekday rates even lower. If you haven't played here, fix that this week.
Two 18-hole courses at Passaic County rates that land squarely in the $40-60 range depending on day and time. The East Course is the stronger layout and well worth a dedicated round. George Washington camped at the adjacent Dey Mansion in 1780 - which means you can claim historical significance along with a good value. Weekday morning rates bring this well under $50.
36 Morris County holes at rates that consistently come in under $50. The Red/Gold combo is the recommended layout. Solid conditions, friendly staff, and a loyal local following that knows what a deal it is. Morris County residents get even better pricing with a golf card. Easy to write off as a county course - wrong move.
Nine holes for under $30. Play it twice and you've had a full round of golf for less than the cost of a bucket of balls at some facilities. The conditions are consistently solid and the layout is honest. Perfect for a round after work or a quick morning session before anyone else is awake. One of the best-value rounds of golf in Morris County.
A 1927 Charles Banks design restored in 2023, with Essex County rates that land in the $60-80 range - slightly above this list's ceiling at peak times, but weekday and twilight rates regularly come in under $50. The Bobby Jones 15th hole and the horseshoe ninth green make this one of the most historically interesting public rounds in New Jersey. Worth timing your visit around the rate calendar.
Bergen County's most scenic public course, set in the Ramapo Mountain foothills. Bergen County Golf Card holders get rates well under $50, and even standard rates are among the most reasonable in the county for the quality of setting and layout. The elevation changes and tree-lined fairways make this feel like a destination round at a county track price.
Affordable South Jersey golf with a loyal local following and rates consistently under $50. A no-frills, honest public track that delivers a solid round without pretension. The staff is welcoming and the pace of play is excellent compared to the busier Shore-area courses. A great option if you're in South Jersey and want a quality round without the premium price tag.
New Jersey's county parks system quietly runs some of the best-value golf in the Northeast. Most of these tracks have resident discount cards that drop rates even further - if you live in the county, those cards pay for themselves in two rounds. Check each county's parks department for current pricing before you book.
